Brookside Elementary Library

The Brookside Library prides itself on its growing collection of great books for children.  We currently have over 7,500 fiction and non-fiction children’s books.  Students visit the library weekly and are encouraged to select books at their reading level.  All fiction books and most non-fiction books are leveled, making it easy for students to find books they can read.

The librarian works closely with the curriculum to display and organize reading materials based on grade level themes and suggested reading lists.  Kindergarten, first and second grade attend a weekly story time.  Stories are selected based on current language arts skills and themes which are connected to the curriculum.  Also, seasonal themes and special interest displays are used to promote student learning.

The Brookside Library encourages students to enjoy reading and become lifelong readers by acquiring a diverse collection of classics, award winning books, newly published books, and books in all genres.  Encyclopedias, atlases, almanacs, dictionaries, thesauruses, and non-fiction titles are available for student research and report writing.  Parents are welcome to come in and check out books to share with their younger children.  It’s never too early to encourage the joy of reading!

“The more that you read, the more things you will know.

The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”
